EZ Heating & Cooling LLC was founded in 2019 by Rick and Gaye Dye and is family owned and operated locally in the greater Knoxville metropolitan Tennessee area. We proudly do our part in maintaining and investing in our local economy. Our valued customers can rest assured they are contributing to our local economy as well. We, and our employees, are thankful and grateful for our success over the years and look forward to our future, which may include you.

Rick Dye, our founder, won the post secondary education USA Skilled Olympics Gold Medal in HVAC/Refrigeration in 1986, which was held in Phoenix, AZ. After winning the Gold Medal, Rick started an HVAC company and built a very successful business over the years. Since 1986, Rick has been delivering excellence through HVAC/R contracting after starting Atlas Heating Cooling & Refrigeration in Kentucky. In 2005 Rick founded Ameritstar Air Conditioning & Heating, LLC in Magnolia, TX and then in 2012, Rick founded AIRCO Texas Air Conditioning & Heating, LLC in the Houston-Gulf Coast area. Rick and his wife wanted to be closer to family and with his wife being an alumni of UT decided in 2018 to move to the Knoxville area and established EZ Heating & Cooling, LLC where they look forward to serving our community. We are the only HVAC company in Tennessee owned by a USA Skilled Olympic Gold Medal winner.

Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) | Skills USA In 1986, Rick Dye launched his career in a big way. By winning Gold in the Olympic Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration competitions.

Vo-Tech Student Ricky Dye Wins Medal In Competition

Rick Dye Air Coditioning Heating & Refrigeration Olympic Gold

Lee Kyle Cummins congratulates Ricky Dye who won a gold medal in Phoenix in National competition in Air Conditioning in June.

Ricky Dye, a student at the Hazard State Vocational-Technical School won first place in the United Staten Skill Olympics held in Phoenix, Arizona June 24-27, 1986. Mr. Dye is a student in the Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Class and is the fifth State Champion produced by instructor Lee Kyle Cummins. Students from all fifty states and the territories of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands competed for the Coveted Award. Mr. Dye is the first Heating and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration student from Kentucky to win the gold medal.

Ricky is a native of Floyd County and is one of eight children. His father, Woodrow, is a retired coal miner who worked 31 years, 10 months and never missed a pay day.

Ricky began competing in February in local competition moving on to the Regional level in March, the State in May and winning the National Competition in June in Phoenix.

Ricky not only Won a gold medal, but $500.00 in tools and a $250 Savings Bond. He also received a very substantial job offer from the Carrier Corporation. Had he accepted the job, he would have been working in Anaheim, California. Ricky turned down the job offer planning to go into business for himself in his native Floyd County.

Shatter Bailey State Vocational School Director was on hand to congratulate Ricky on his outstanding accomplishment in the National Competition.

Finley Begley of Hazard Vo-Tech School recognized the support of local businessman, John Reedy of Reedy Wholesale, Mr. Reedy and his company have contributed greatly to the vocational school programs for many years. Kentucky Power has also been a strong booster of Vocational Education.

Director Walter Prater said that a quality Vocational educational program relied on the support and involvement of the community.

Wednesday Ricky was in for additional honors from the State Board of Education in Frankfort.

Ricky thanked everyone, modestly saying he didn't win the gold medal by himself, but because of the good instruction he had received at the Hazard Vo-Tech School.

Katherine McAllister, on be-half of Mayor Bill Gorman, presented Ricky with key to the city and commissioned him a Duke of Hazard.
